What is horology?
Horology ("the study of time" from the greek hṓra "hour; time") is the study of the measurement of what we call "time". People interested in horology are called horologists. That term is used both by people who deal professionally with timekeeping apparatus (watchmakers, clockmakers, watch collectors), as well as scholars of horology and the philosophy behind it.
Who is this site for?
This site is meant to be an all-encompassing hub for everyone. As stated in the question above, all horologists are welcome here, both philosophy and timekeeping apparatus enthusiasts. Feel right at home in the dedicated groups and don't feel intimidated to engage with the other side of horology, whichever one that is for you.
What can you offer that WatchCrunch doesn't?
Believe it or not both websites launched at the same time while having a lot of similar ideas of creating a watch space away from the toxicity of mainstream social media while avoiding the archaic structure of old forums.
While we are big fans of their website and approach ( and have started to use it ourselves), we intended Orologeria.online to be more focused on horology as in the philosophy of watches and time, which we believe is still unique to our platform.
We don't see any issues for coexisting and, since Orologeria (and we believe also WatchCrunch, though we could be wrong) is a non-profit platform which stays alive through our IRL jobs, made for horology enthusiasts, we think both platforms can improve and exist alongside one another.
We commend WatchCrunch on their deserved massive success and hope that we at Orologeria.online, as students and independent watchmakers will also find the funds for an equally proper marketing campaign.
What are the rules and guidelines while using this platform?
First and foremost treat everyone with respect and engage in civilised discussion. We offer international shipping anywhere in the world using Romania's Postal Service's priority post with tracking.
